A strong C# developer to work on Yeti, the strategic grid valuation service.
- Significant contribution to a critical aspect of the infrastructure.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Work as a member of an Agile Development team producing tested robust software.
- Extend and maintain services for the management of risk.
- An understanding of the functioning of the main client systems and the analytics library will be required.
- Liaise with business partners to identify new requirements and ensure the system meets expectations.
- Support data gathering for capacity forecasting and costing decisions.
- Involvement in 2nd line support, including out-of-hours support a couple of times a month.
- Investigation and resolution of production issues will be expected.
This role is for a developer interested in designing and delivering working solutions in a structured, agile manner. We value smart people, with a problem solving ability and a "can do" attitude above specific language experience.

Technical
A "hard" list of skills and experience we look for - candidate should be familiar with at least 2-3 in each row:
- 3+ years commercial software development
- C#, .net 4 or 4.5, WebAPI, experience with Resharper preferred (or other IDE plugins which aid developer productivity...)
- NUnit, XUnit, MsTest, MachineSpecification, RhinoMocks, Moq, NMock, Fitnesse, Cucumber, NBuilder (any other testing and mocking frameworks as well...)
- NInject, Autofac, Castle Windsor, StructureMap, Unity (other DI frameworks, or a good opinion on why DI frameworks are fundamentally unnecessary are also accepted)
- Teamcity, TFS, Jenkins, Hudson, Go, CruiseControl.Net (other Continuous Integration/ Build servers...)
Soft
If a candidate reads through those requirements and can identify with them and/or gets really excited about those topics, has lots of stories/opinions/past experience with those, then that's a good sign.
- Enjoys working with modern, object-orientated .net code, is comfortable with anonymous functions, using LINQ on collections, Tasks to tackle asynchronous programming. The candidate should be aware of programming patterns and when it's useful to apply them. They have heard of acronyms such as DRY, YAGNI and KISS and have opinions about the concepts behind them.
- Applies the boy scout mentality of leaving the (code) site in a better state than they found it. That means taking the time to clean up hacks and refactor the code where necessary.
- Understands and appreciates the value of writing meaningful tests. Reading through a test should explain the intent of the code - this is what is present in the code base (though there is always room to improve) and what we would want maintained going forward with all new features. Appreciates the benefits of test-driven development.
- Has experience with professional software projects and has a track record of making the right decisions, balancing delivering business value and ensuring technical debt is tackled before it gets out of hand. We're operating in a commercial environment, so sometimes we need to be pragmatic and go with something that works over the most elegant solution.
- Has worked in agile environments before - short delivery cycles, always keeping the code base working, pairing and interacting with other developers when it's beneficial, favouring automation over doing things manually to reduce errors and increase delivery speed.
- Enjoys staying up to date with technology developments - by reading blogs, listening to podcasts, attending user groups or conferences, being involved in open source projects, answering questions on StackOverflow. We don't expect people to do all of the above, but are looking for someone who is aware of broader changes and developments in the programming community.

The candidate will join the Yeti development team. The objective of this team is to extend and maintain the grid compute valuation service which is used by many other systems
The department is responsible for the end-to-end management and delivery of Information Technology for the global businesses.
In particular, it develops and supports Front Office Systems & Tools used by the global business for flow and exotic equity derivatives, options and fund linked products, as well as overall management of the IT strategy and portfolio across the Front, Middle and Back Office for these businesses.
The business has a large and on-going programme of work which includes strategic re-engineering of its IT systems and architecture to meet the challenges of a major increase in trading volumes, as well as support for new trade types, and the department is responsible for the overall delivery of this programme.
