Role Description:

• Mud Loggers ensure efficiency, safety and cost control by providing the Client Company with a detailed analytical record of the geology, oil and gas shows, drilling and mud parameters, and related problems encountered during drilling and completion.
• The primary objective of mud logging is to assist in the efficient completion of oil and gas wells.
• The position of mudlogger is the basic geological surveillance on the rig. As such he must be in constant communication with other Service Company employees, Drilling Contractor Crew and the
• Operator appraising them of anything related to the geology of the well that may affect drilling or alternate operations.
• The crew of an SLS unit may vary depending upon contract. It is possible the mudlogger may be the most senior position of the SLS crew.
• Generally speaking, if a sample catcher is present in the crew, the Mudlogger will supervise him, and ensure his duties are performed to his satisfaction. This may include on the job training as required.
• If the crew includes a Data or Pressure Engineer, the Mudlogger will usually be subordinate to them, and have his or her geological duties supervised by the Engineer.
• If the mudlogger is the senior position in the SLS unit, the logger will also report directly to the SLS Local Operations Manager, or coordinator.

Requirements:

• A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Geology (BSc.), Petroleum Geology or Petroleum Engineering from a recognized University
• The Mudlogger shall have completed at least 28 days offshore experience as either a trainee, working with Senior Loggers or Data Engineers or sample catching on a job with sufficient time to grasp the fundamental aspects of the job. Initial “Stand-alone” work experience will be performed only on jobs with a crew comprising mudloggers and data engineers.
• Good communication skills, a thorough grasp of basic petroleum geology and excellent computer skills will have been demonstrated.
