Key Responsibilities
Development Operations Engineer is to provide proactive and reactive technical support for the market risk calculation and reporting system (MaRS) and to ensure that this mission critical system remains fully operational and is able to deliver reports to the Chief Risk Officer in a timely manner.
- Investigate and analyse any anomalies in production runs.
- Advise on prospective changes to the production environment - major hierarchy changes, additional reports, etc.
- Assist in urgent requests needed from the production environment.
- Provide knowledge on the MARS system to others.
- Act as liaison with business teams on production process.
Additional duties and responsibilities
- Develop MaRS product or auxiliary tools.
- Assist in the releases of new versions to the production environment.
- Help with automation of the entire ecosystem
- Monitor and support test infrastructure
Essentials Skills and Qualifications:
- Practical knowledge of Linux and Unix scripting (bash/python)
- Practical knowledge of Oracle SQL
- Experience in working on large enterprise systems, processing large data volumes.
- A degree in a numerate discipline ( e.g. Maths, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science)
- Strong written and oral communication skills (English)
- Demonstrated ability to work at a fast pace in a team and adapt style to ensure the project is successful.

Overview of business area or project:
MaRS (Market Risk System) is a critical for the Bank system responsible for calculating Value at Risk. This value tells how much the Bank can lose during stock market crash, given current positions and history of price changes. Tens of thousands reports are calculated daily by various individuals - from traders to risk management managers. MaRS systems are spread on 100+ large Linux servers and tens of components are run on each server. The main goal, apart from adding new functionalities by developers, is to ensure that the systems are stable and that they function correctly.
