An excellent opportunity is currently available for a Sales Support Process Engineer (Senior Technical Sales Engineer) in the UOP Gas Processing and Hydrogen business unit within Honeywell’s Performance Materials and Technologies strategic business group. The Process Engineer is primarily accountable to support the development of technical proposals for gas processing installations for UOP’s customers worldwide. The position will be located in Bucharest, Romania, and will report to the Sales Support Manager in Bucharest, Romania.

Process Engineers are responsible for assessing technical needs and requirements for gas processing applications. The Process Engineer will complete process simulations, unit configuration and optimization analysis, equipment data sheets, process flow diagrams, piping and instrument diagrams, material balances, utilities estimates, and hydraulic line sizing. The Process Engineer will work closely with Sales Support Proposal Managers, procurement, project engineering, and global engineering disciplines to provide optimized technical solutions for our customers. The Process Engineer will also represent UOP in customer clarification discussions and in industry conferences and presentations.

Primary Direct Accountabilities:
• Complete process simulations, unit configuration and optimization analysis, equipment data sheets, process flow diagrams, piping and instrument diagrams, material balances, utilities estimates, and hydraulic line sizing for assigned projects.
• Provide sales support for opportunities being pursued by UOP Sales representatives including assistance during the early project development phase.
• Review and evaluate customer requests, inquiries, and specifications for gas processing systems.
• Determine system requirements and prepare the basic design of the system and its components, in line with customer requirements. Compile the basic specifications and components of the system for use in the preparation of the structural design and project cost estimate.
• Assist the Proposal Manager with preparation of customer proposals. Functions include analysis of customer specifications, description of the equipment and components in the system, utility requirements, materials consumption rates, technical parameters and limitations and technical clarifications to customer specifications.
• Participate in the development and maintenance of design tools and documentation.
• Be familiar with the work process and quality policy and apply as appropriate to each project.
• Assist in detailed reviews of customer ITB/RFQ packages.
• Support transition of project from sales support to engineering group for execution after project award.

Primary Indirect Accountabilities:
• Contribute and participate in customer meetings as assigned and agreed with Sales. Interface with customers to resolve issues. Keep up to date with customer needs and technologies within assigned area.
• Work on infrastructure projects for tool improvement showing aptitude and ability to develop solutions with some guidance.
• Document all calculations and work processes in clear concise format.
• Make responsible and independent decisions subject to detailed technical review.
• Coordinate globally with more senior Proposal Managers, Process Engineers and Sales on how to respond to client requests with appropriate response that meets customer requirements through the various stages of the sales process.
• Identify pull-through opportunities from projects being developed.
• Develop technically innovative process solutions to sales opportunities with appropriate risk consideration.
• Work globally with more senior technical experts to ensure unit configuration and process design provide the most effective technical solution.
• Take a supporting role at customer meetings for bid clarifications, technology updates, technical proposal review and general positioning of respective technologies.
• Provide competitive feedback from individual projects to Sales Support Manager and Product Line Manager.

Qualifications

Required Candidate Qualifications:
• Bachelors of
Science Degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in the refining, petrochemicals or gas processing industries is required.
• Microsoft Office experience including: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Advanced Experience in using commercial simulation software such as Unisim/HYSYS and/or Aspen Plus.

Preferred Candidate Qualifications:

• Overall knowledge of gas processing systems and processes, with knowledge of acid gas removal technologies a plus.
• Knowledge of equipment sizing/rating for exchangers, separators, stabilizers, distillation and absorber towers & internals, pumps, slug-catchers, adsorbent vessels etc.
• Strong English communication skills both written and verbal.
• Good interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Microsoft Office experience including: Project and Visio.
