The Legal Counsel- Ethics & Compliance, Data Privacy is a full time manager role to be filled by an individual with at least 5 years’ relevant experience and/or expertise in European data privacy and, preferably but not a must, data privacy in Africa. The role sits within the Data Privacy team in the Legal Department and reports to the Senior Legal Counsel- Ethics & Compliance, Data Privacy. Individuals with relevant data privacy experience at a global company in the technology and IT sector are preferred. CIPP professional certification(s) or equivalents are preferred. Good knowledge of French is a preferred skill; another relevant language besides English is an additional benefit.
Working closely with the Senior Legal Counsel- Ethics & Compliance, Data Privacy, the role will primarily cover data privacy compliance aspects of new and existing internal projects and/or businesses.
The role will focus on providing subject matter expertise and support to European, Middle East and African regional business and corporate functions. It will particularly help to implement appropriate solutions for Accenture to address changes in the law in these regions that impact Accenture’s business.
Integral part of the work is to provide support to other parts of the Legal and Contract Management functions on transactional data privacy matters in client and supplier contracts, and data privacy reviews of the company’s services and offerings.

Support the development and implementation of the global data privacy program, including local design and implementation of the global program.

Be a recognized expert on data privacy issues in the region, with specific focus of compliance.

Working with Government Relations, stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments in the European region, including public policy, regional data privacy regulation and standards that potentially impact Accenture’s ability to comply with local DP requirements.

Deliver training and exchange best practices and market relevant intelligence with relevant stakeholders.

Serve as the primary point of contact for transactional data privacy support requests in region, supporting CORE, Contracting, and Contract Management professionals in their work on client and supplier contracts.

Transfer knowledge in Accenture’s contracting positions to empower CORE, Contracting, and Contract Management professionals to handle transactional data privacy matters and over time, to become increasingly self-reliant.

Together with the Contracting professionals and the Client Data Protection Leads, refine Accenture’s contracting positions on data privacy and data security issues to ensure our contract terms are compliant with local laws and both competitive and aligned with our client data protection strategy, operational activities and our data security practices in delivery locations.

Maintain a professional network with data privacy lawyers at client and peer companies and law firms.

Law Degree or equivalent.

Min 5 years’ experience in global data privacy law and practice in a global company, preferably in technology and IT sector in the European region.

Fluent in English and preferably also in French.

CIPP professional certification(s) or equivalents are preferred.

Admitted to practice law.

Knowledge of Information and Communication Technologies or a technology degree or qualification.

Demonstrated knowledge of data privacy and related laws and regulations experience with data privacy legal compliance or counselling.
