This position is responsible for category commitments of up to $100MM annual spend for MRO, more specifically packaging materials used in paper mills and box plants, as well as operating supplies used in box plants. Annual cost savings and negotiated TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) values are two key criteria for success.

- Establish contracts for materials and services in accordance with corporate policy
- Keep category contracts current to ensure IP's leverage is maximized
- Obtain maximum value for International Paper in our agreements with regard to cost, quality, delivery, and service levels
- Manage all Category related activities. These include, but are not limited to:
- Go to market strategy development that meets stakeholder requirements
- RFI/RFP and associated analysis
- Negotiation strategy and execution
- Award of business and contract implementation
- On-going supplier relationship management ensuring contract effectiveness for IP’s facilities (Price, Quality, and Service Levels)
- Price and terms audits
- Deliver timely and clear stakeholder communications regarding category awards, price updates, market conditions, etc.
- General business knowledge through a college degree or equivalent work experience - is essential
- Minimum of five years of experience in Purchasing with increasing negotiation responsibility - is required.
- Experience in an international and multi site sourcing environment and at negotiating European or EMEA contracts - is desired
- Knowledge of products and services being procured - is desired
- Knowledge of basic product function through experience or self study - is preferred
- Extensive knowledge of Excel
- Knowledge about usage of the following software programs: SAP, SAP BW - will be required after training
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English - are essential.
- Knowledge of a few other languages (French, Italian, Polish, Russian, Spanish) - is an advantage
- Action oriented with high level of adaptability attitude
- High ethical values
- Analytical and conscious in documentation/reporting skills
- Very good communication skills
