This is a Java developer role in DevOps team. This is an individual contributor role. This role will be reporting to above mentioned role and contribute to delivery and development of DevOps tools, automation of capacity models. This role will expose successful candidate to BigData operational aspects, developing and forecast models and automate. It involves learning new languages, technologies and frameworks and working with the people that designed and implemented them.
In addition, this role will have delivery responsibilities of the Capacity Management and Modelling which comprises of the following streams:
- Instrumentation: Get a view into production environment by producing various metrics to understand production environment better.
- Measurement: Performance testing of RDx components in Perf Lab, build performance testing tools, create and drive performance testing strategy across RDx.
- Modelling: Capacity modelling of RDx to understand storage compute and network requirements for data on-boarding requirements.
Key Objectives & Responsibilities:
- Based on the capacity model build automation to continuously assess capacity and calibrate models
- Be a hands-on lead developer, not just team management aspects
- Partner with Platform and Business Solution development teams to build instrumentation with in platform, apps and services
- Partner with Operations team to build tools and dashboards to show alerts on system capacity aspects, metrics and trend analysis
- Partner with QA team to build tools and automation required for non-functional testing, automate capturing of results and baselining of non-functional metrics
- Team management aspects - hiring, career management and contribute to the growth of the location.
Mandatory:
- 5+ years of strong core java development experience, should be hands-on
- Experience in a lead developer capacity including leading a small team of developers
- Prior experience in working in a large distributed application is a must
- Prior experience in managing a technology product build out is a must
Nice to have:
- Experience developing / supporting Hadoop stack (HDFS, HBase, Spark, Kafka)
- Experience to tools like Elastic Search/ Splunk will be an advantage
- Experience with modelling a business problem, forecasting techniques is a huge advantage
- Experience with Python/Scala

Focusing on creating in house languages, compilers, big data, domain specific languages, distributed algebras, frameworks, etc. Role is addressing the biggest challenges the big data world can provide including performance, capacity, modeling and monitoring.
The team is spread in 3 locations: NY, London and Wroclaw.
