Your role
Would you like to join a team that sets the direction and strategy for the Linux operating system across the globe and engineers a release that will be deployed on thousands of systems? Would you like to design and build solutions to automate the deployment, configuration and upgrade of these systems? We are searching for someone like you to:
- support the development and testing of automated patching on an enterprise level, from working on the CI pipeline, automated staging and testing, the delivery of the patches with the required documentation, all the way to the integration of the patch sets in the deployment tools
- work on implementations built by a mixed team of on & off shore team members
- maintain & improve existing deployment, build, and patch mechanisms
- act as an escalation point for 3rd/4th level support issues
- act as one of the system administrators for the several hundred engineering systems
- cooperate with other groups in engineering on delivery of large scale programs
- conduct new product evaluation and testing
- interface with vendors on support and development / feature improvement areas
Your team
UBS Server OS & Hardware Engineering provides the server operating systems used throughout the global infrastructure. We integrate them with key infrastructure, ensure they can be operated in the enterprise and provide tools to ensure operational stability through their OS lifecycle. The Linux engineering team currently focuses on developing a RHEL 7 platform to be deployed on internal clouds and on physical hardware. Other tasks include update and patch management of existing RHEL 5 and 6 system as well as integration and automation of other components frequently used across the infrastructure.
Your experience and skills
Your have:
- several years of experience in administrating or developing on Linux, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- working knowledge in Perl or python
- experience in building RPMs (recommended)
- experience in continuous integration with Jenkins and git (recommended)
- working knowledge of Puppet (recommended)
- experience with large-scale enterprises

- analytical and logical (you can solve problems like nobody’s business)
- an excellent communicator, with strong interpersonal skills
- motivated, self-directed and driven
- fluent in English
