Manufacturing Database and Application Developer

Job description
Network Energy Services is looking for a Manufacturing Database and Application Developer (desktop and web) to support our factory manufacturing line of smart meters and data concentrators in Kwidzyn, Poland. Engineering and Operations support teams are located in San Jose, California. The candidate must be able to work primarily in Gdansk and Kwidzyn as needed and be able to travel occasionally to San Jose, including up to one month for startup training. Position reports to Manufacturing Test Systems Manager.
The Manufacturing Database and Application Developer responsibilities includes:
- Design, spec, creation and maintenance of all factory database programs and scripts, including updating existing (non-test station) applications as well as creating new applications
- Coordinate with head of manufacturing and manufacturing test development team based in San Jose, CA on requirements and interface specifications
- Deploy new and updated apps to factory DBA personnel in Kwidzyn, with operational documentation and training; continue supporting DBA as needed
- Maintenance and expansion of web-based meter configuration system used for creating factory configuration and program files, operated by customer and product management (ASP.NET SQL Server)
- Automation of process to turn configuration software output files (in various formats) into input files for manufacturing test software programs (various text formats)
Requirements
The Required Skills for this position are:
Application Development:
- T-SQL
- Stored procedures, views, reporting
- Understands and applies good security models including encryption/authentication
- Query optimization (indexes, schema variation, data denormalization, etc.)
- MS Access as a front-end to SQL Server, VBA (for several existing applications but not new applications)
- .NET/C#, ASP.NET web forms
- Strong diagnostic and debugging skills
- Experience working with virtual machines and remote servers
Process-oriented:
- Fluent in English, both written and oral
- Regimented in quality processes and flows for consistency and predictability
- Independent worker, self-motivated and proactive in getting information and doing what needs to be done with minimal oversight
- Good documentation skills, including experience writing detailed functional specs
- Assessing business needs and turn them into design and functional specifications
- Comfortable working on cross-functional teams, giving and receiving timely feedback, and reaching out to ask for help
Desired Skills:
- Experience setting up and configuring remote DB access over secure VPN's
Experience Requirements are:
- BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- 3-5 years work experience doing database, desktop and web application development
