For our Client, one of the largest and oldest US-based financial institutions, operating more than 230 years and conducting their operations in 100 markets and 35 countries, we are searching for experienced individual that is willing to develop within the Transfer Agnecy Team.
Your new role
The Transfer Agency Team Manager has responsibility for overseeing all aspects of work performed by their staff of Investor Relations Representatives. This includes developing and reviewing the department policies and procedures to ensure compliance with BNYM's overall policies and procedures. The Team Manager works closely with Team Managers across locations to develop and grow the staff. A strong familiarity with the workings of alternative investments, a demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, and the ability to work effectively with corporate executives, staff members, Investors and Clients are critical to performing their duties. The role requires to be responsible for the ongoing evaluation of team members, establishing annual Performance Management Programs (targets and deadlines); taking steps where necessary to address gaps in skills through training and mentoring to ensure peak performance for clients. Besides the Team Manager is expected to interview staff for new/replacement positions, recommend staff for internal promotion and assign tasks for team members to enhance career opportunities. As a Transfer Agency the potential candidate will be obliged to ensure if the day to day operational requirements are being managed and controlled by staff to achieve all the service level agreements and key performance indicators. These tasks include but are not limited, to review of investor and trade processing, trade and document reconciliation and cash reconciliations and various investor/client distributions. The position also stands in need to work with teams in various locations both US, EMEA and APAC. In addition to that, a key focus of the role is to ensure that client initiatives are delivered and strategic planning and action takes place, in order to enhance the future growth and development of the business. The role of the The Team Manager focuses to produce reporting for senior management, including standard daily and monthly KPIs and ensuring that teams are operating within the defined outsource operating model. The four main areas of the role’s duties will cover ensuring that a strong risk management and governance culture is embedded within the Business Unit by promoting the ‘Three Lines of Defence’ model (by working collaboratively with the Second and Third Lines of Defence to identify risks, conduct root-cause analysis, implement remediation activities and to communicate lessons-learned findings) and by developing and implementing strong risk practices across the Business Unit (including the use of the RCSA as the key management tool to actively manage risk within the Business Unit). If it comes to Risk Competence & Knowledge the Team Manager stands in need to understand the Business Unit's Risk Appetite and knowing how this relates to the legal entity infrastructure and the legal entities under which the Business Unit operates , and the impact that this has on the Business Unit's regulatory operating environment. Regarding accountability the role requires to ensure that related to risk management responsibilities are clearly defined and understood throughout the Business Unit, to control if they are escalated and remediated in an effective and transparent manner. Another risk Risk Management Responsibility is to ensure that Business Unit operating procedures and other key directive controls (checklists) are maintained on a regular basis and adequately designed. Besides throughout continued and effective oversight, making ensure that appropriate Key Risk Indicator (KRI) measurements and tolerances are in place and are agreed with Senior Operations managers and LoB Risk Management.
What you'll need to succeed
The desired candidate should possess of a strong familiarity with the work of hedge funds and a demonstrated ability to manage complex projects. The candidate will need a minimum of 2 years experience in Financial Services, preferably Investor Relations in a complex industry such as alternative investments and 1-3 years experience in managing people. Knowledge and understanding of compliance and regulatory issues is a key, including Know Your Customer (KYC) and anti-money laundering policies as governed by the USA Patriot Act. Apart from that BS or BA in a business related field would be an asset along with Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and technical operations. The Transfer Agency Team Manager role would require strong customer and interpersonal skills such as ability to work effectively with corporate executives, staff members, clients and investors which is essential for the Team Manager. The potential candidate needs to demonstrate superior oral and written communication skills, ability to multi-task, experience in managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
