Your role
UBS Asset Management is undertaking a significant strategic change program to evolve its middle and back office platform to best position the business for future growth. As part of this change, the Valuation Group is expanding its capabilities to support the Equities, Fixed Income, & Multi-Asset Valuation Committee ("VC") as well as other valuation committees related to Asset Management's alternative capabilities. To support these efforts, UBS Asset Management is seeking a Valuation Analyst with industry experience and a thorough understanding of valuation principles both in the registered and unregistered fund domain.
Your team
This role will play an integral part within the Valuation Group working within the AM COO area. The Valuation Group will have oversight on the valuation policies, processes, and procedures across all regions within the traditional fund business as well as select alternative fund businesses. The team will also have frequent contact and interaction with other business areas including legal, operations, business development, fund treasury, technology, and data management.
The key responsibilities will include:
- Support the VC and other Alternative Funds' valuation committees in preparation, analysis, and documentation of meeting materials
- Assist in evaluation of pricing vendors and annual due diligence process
- Perform/review analysis of security liquidity
- Review pricing vendor tolerance breaks and stale/unchanged pricing
- Assist in the preparation and review of fair valuations for illiquid or private securities
- Coordinate and perform security back-testing analytics
- Review corporate actions and instruct Fund Administrators/Custodians on appropriate valuation
- Review price override requests from Portfolio Managers and validate appropriateness
- Review and validate fair valuation models and security specific valuation issues as needed
- Assist in helping to build pricing framework and methodology as part of the strategic change program in Asset Management
- Assist in various other ad hoc projects as needed
- Support the valuation team in calculating, coordinating, and implementing global swing pricing/dilution levy implementation and governance
Your experience and skills
- Undergraduate degree: Preferably Finance/Accounting/Economics related
- 3-5 years of experience in an asset management firm or similar experience in a valuation function. Experience in the Hedge Fund, Fund-of-Fund, or Private Equity industry a plus
- Candidate holds the CFA designation or is working towards their CFA designation
- Experience and familiarity with valuation procedures across all asset classes (equity, fixed income, derivatives, structured products)
- Experience with Bloomberg and Microsoft Excel
- Able to respond quickly as well as work under pressure for extended periods
- A high level of flexibility with the ability to manage a broad portfolio of tasks
- High level of integrity and maturity, confident in one's ability but sufficiently different to understand boundaries
- Self-motivated and passionate achiever with strong communication skills
- Ability to manage and deal with complex projects
- Strong analytical and structured problem solving skills
- Desire and ability to challenge the status quo
