analyze requirements specification, plan and design solutions (including interfaces to other applications) taking into consideration: economic efficiency, quality, feasibility and dependencies
support project estimates and provide planning input regarding solution engineering and software engineering project activities to the Project Manager
coordinates the software engineers, define work packages and assign them, ensure high quality of the work products and a consistent end-to-end solution implementation
act as technical representation & advisor for project and ensure compliance with IT standard & guidelines
responsible for all project-related solution engineering work products content and quality of the application documentation (e.g. Software Architecture Document (SAD))
ensure adherence to application and technology related architectural standards and development policies
perform design and implementation reviews to ensure architecture and application conforming to standards & guidelines
Mandatory education/experience:
university degree or similar education in information technology
very well experienced Cobol or PL/1 and DB2 software developer with knowledge in batch-processing, SQL, XML and MQ-Series
well experienced solution architect , able to lead an on-site and off-shore development team (4-6 software engineers)
solid theoretical understanding and practical experience of use case modeling (UML)
good knowledge of Enterprise Architect 9.x
Beneficial experience:
project management experience
understanding of financial instruments like options (incl. OTC), warrants, futures, structures products
well banking-knowhow about tax, namely about FATCA and/or Qualified Intermediary
Java software engineering knowledge (EJB 3.x, JSF 2.x, JMS, JPA, JUnit)

The project will implement a technical solution to comply with section 871(m). New modules need to be developed on our IBM mainframe in order to gather all required data, calculate and withhold the relevant tax amounts and create the regulatory reporting to IRS, clients and counterparties.
Roles overview:
The Solution Architect analyzes the requirements specification and designs technical solutions. These solutions are developed in agreement with the IT Owner. The solutions should take into consideration the strategic roadmap of the domain, strategic goals of the Client Tax area, architecture standards and guidelines, economic efficiency, quality and feasibility within the project activities. The Solution Architect is accountable for the design and implementation of technical solutions and the documentation.
