On behalf of our client, an actuarial consultancy business, Hays is looking to recruit an Actuary/Statistician to become an integral part of a solid business and contribute with his/her knowledge, skill set, and a dynamic and positive attitude. The company office is located in the heart of Copenhagen.
Focus Areas
The company’s prime focus is actuarial consultancy services to non-life insurance companies, captives, private companies, the State, regions and municipalities within Solvency II. The projects deal with implementation of Solvency II including development of Capital Models, development and upkeep of reserving models, development and implementation of risk management, tariff analyses, reinsurance analyses, captives, and advising the acquirer or seller when companies are changing ownership.
The Role
In essence, the incumbent will work within all of the focus areas mentioned. Moreover, you will benefit from exposure to various aspects of a client’s business and gain an insight into their needs and challenges. Based on these meetings and requirements, you will provide solutions and present them to the client(s). A good business understanding and imagination vis-à-vis possible solution is therefore an important attribute.
The inherent nature of the job entails analyses of vast amount of data; however, there is an additional requirement of good communication skills. Since the projects are often long-term, there is a need to convey updates to the clients throughout the projects. These updates focus on the actuarial as well as business-wise consequences of behind the results. Further, you will be representing the company during meetings with stakeholders from client companies, which accentuates the necessity of good communication skills. Lastly, it will be encouraged that you proactively leverage your network to bring business to the company.
International Approach
The vast majority of the clients are companies located in the Nordic region. The company is also a member of EURACS, a European network of independent actuarial and pension consultancy firms, which can result in assignments in the rest of Europe as well.
Ideal Candidate
We will be considering candidates who have strong professional knowledge within insurance mathematics/statistics. An academic background that includes a Master’s degree in Actuarial Studies, Statistics or similar will be preferred. The ideal candidate possesses a high level of integrity and maturity, which is conveyed through creating an overview and balancing several key assignments simultaneously. Approximately ten years of experience within the non-life insurance or the pension sector is required. Furthermore, in-depth experience within non-life insurance will furthermore be considered highly advantageous for this role.
In order to successfully fill the position one must hold commercial competencies and a developed business sense in order to successfully convey the complex data in consultancy terms. Furthermore, one must be able to forge good professional relationships with existing as well as new clients. The right candidate takes responsibility for his/her own professional development and is proactive when it comes to enhancement of existing knowledge. On a personal level, the successful candidate will be motivated by working independently on multiple interdisciplinary projects simultaneously. It will be a plus if you have experience working with other Nordic countries and are open towards travelling for work.
