Position summary
Rockwell Automation is looking for a talented team lead to join our new product development team. You will join a geographically dispersed engineering team and be tasked with building a team responsible for developing power electronic hardware and technology for the industrial servo motion control market. You will provide direct management and coaching of both power electronics and high-speed digital design engineers. You and your team will play a key role in all phases of product development including requirements definition, technology development, design, product verification and certification testing, and release to production. You will be expected to deliver process improvements for your team as well as create an environment that fosters a collaborative and innovative approach to working with other development teams across the globe. It is dynamic, fast-paced, and requires a highly motivated individual with a passion for product development and developing people.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or equivalent experience required.
- 7+ years’ experience in power electronics development in the area of motion control systems and/or industrial power conversion equipment or equivalent graduate level course study.
- Experience leading technical composed of engineers and technicians and delegating technical design tasks to achieve a complex objective.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the fundamentals of power electronic design and track record of creating and delivering innovative solutions.
- Component analysis experience and device characterization of IGBTs, MOSFETs, and high frequency capacitors.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of modeling tools, i.e. Matlab/Simulink, Simplorer, LTSpice, Maxwell, etc.
- Expert understanding of EMI noise reduction techniques, PCB layout, gate drive design, thermal management, voltage and current sensing techniques and protection circuitry.
- Demonstrated expertise in laboratory testing and experience with test equipment including oscilloscopes, data acquisition equipment, spectrum analyzers, etc.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency and understanding of the architecture, specification and hardware design in the area of motion control systems or industrial power conversion equipment (servo drives, industrial drives, UPS, and traction drives).
- Track record of creating more efficient design processes and implementation of design processes in engineering teams.
- Understanding of statistical methods (DfSS) and design analysis (Monte Carlo, DFMEA, etc…) in a product development environment.
- Experience with agency approval requirements and design for regulatory compliance (UL, CE).
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
