Technical Support Specialist

This position is responsible for the global remote services back office processes associated with industrial Process Control Networks for Honeywell customers in the Oil and Gas; Hydrocarbon Processing; Power Generation; Pulp, Paper & Printing; Continuous Web Solutions; Petrochemicals; Life Sciences; and Metals, Minerals and Mining markets. Backoffice processes for the remote services include SQL data transfers, report generation and analysis and other related tasks as identified.

Job description

1. Assist in the development of customer reports summarizing and analyzing the results of the remote network monitoring services.

2. Generate monitoring reports assuring they are delivered on time within budget and to the satisfaction of the customer.

3. Perform Application and System administration tasks required to keep the Remote Service Center operational at industry standard level.

4. Assume lead and/or support role in assigned projects insuring project delivered on time and within budget and to the satisfaction of the customer.

5. Contribute to the development of the remote services portfolio.

6. Keep technically current with the HPS/ Industry Standard networking, cyber security, and wireless product/systems portfolio, while maintaining expert knowledge on specific designated network disciplines.

7. Develop sound and trusted relationships with internal and external customers by providing accurate and efficient technical/engineering support.

8. Respond to monitoring alerts by interfacing with customer to advise of alarm situation, investigate problem and determine the optimal solution.

9. Maintain industrial safety awareness through the completion of pertinent safety certifications.

10. Configuration and onsite implementation of remote solution.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • -Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field such as Computer Science, Computer information systems, electronics or in lieu of degree 7 years of directly related experience;
  • -Good knowledge of the English language written and spoken.
  • -CISCO Certified Network Associate or equivalent;
  • -Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate or equivalent experience
Basic Skills required:
  • -Availability and Performance monitoring (WMI, SNMP, Syslog)
  • -Task automation and or scripting (Batch, PowerShell, VBScript, Perl)
  • -Basic administration of databases (MS-SQL, Oracle, MySQL, SQL Queries)
  • -Microsoft Patch management solutions (WSUS, MSSC)
  • -Antivirus solutions with centralized management (McAfee ePO, Symantec EPM)
  • -Working experience with TCP/IP networks (basic network/device configuration, basic firewall administration, VPN’s)
  • -Troubleshooting skills to resolve basic network and application or system integration issues; (opposed to design and maybe 1 level support jobs)
  • -Installation and maintenance of Operating systems; Virtual machines and Hypervisors
  • -Ability to write documentation and summaries
  • -Security configuration and best practices
Preferred Qualifications:
  • -Good communication skills with external parties
  • -Experience working in industrial industry (Oil and Gas, Chemical industry)
  • -Experience with remote support;
  • -Used to following or developing Policies and Procedures
  • -Multicultural and multinational mindset
