Role Description:

• The primary responsibility for a Data Engineer is to carry out monitoring tasks in a safe, timely and accurate manner in order to assist in the efficient completion of exploration and development wells for oil and gas.
• Data Engineers help ensure efficiency and cost control by providing the Client with detailed interpretations and analysis’ of geology, oil and gas shows, drilling parameters, pressure parameters, hydraulics and well costs during drilling of a well.

The Data Engineer constructs detailed Daily and Final Reports based on the data gathered during drilling and completing. This position may be used for the provision of specialized Formation Pore Pressure Evaluation Services.

• The Data Engineer is part of the drilling and geological surveillance crew and works in close collaboration with other members of the crew, with other shift teams and with client or other service company representatives.
• The Data Engineer reports to the Base or Local Operations Manager or nominated Unit Manager The Mud-logging crew will usually be subordinate to and have his or her geological duties supervised by the Engineer.

 

Requirements:

• A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Geology (BSc.), Petroleum Geology or Petroleum Engineering from a recognized University
• The Data Engineer shall have completed at least 1 year of SLS experience as either a mudlogger with sufficient time to grasp the fundamental aspects of the job. Initial “Stand-alone” work experience will be performed only on jobs with a crew comprising Senior Mudloggers and Senior Data Engineers.
• Good communication skills, a thorough grasp of basic petroleum geology drilling engineering and excellent computer skills will have been demonstrated. Experience with all SLS standard systems will have been gained. Work as a mudlogger will have been performed in Stand-alone units.
• Experience in Over-pressured or tectonically complex areas as an asset
