- Minimum 5 years’ experience leading the Health and Safety requirements of a project
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally, and in writing, in Polish and English
- Demonstrable knowledge of Microsoft Packages to include intermediate Excel
- Excellent presentation skills
- Proven ability to use own initiative as evidenced by previously successfully implementing a Health and Safety initiative, for the benefit of a Company
- It would be beneficial but not essential to have: previous experience working for the marine sector in a Health and Safety role.
- Implement and monitor the companies Health and Safety policies, procedures and processes on projects
- Advise and assist Contract Managers and relevant personnel in planning, controlling and maintaining a safe environment ensuring that they consistently implement all necessary processes and procedures
- Suggest project health and safety areas for improvement and take the lead in implementing agreed improvements
- Ensure all site inductions are completed (and recorded) and health questionnaires completed and reviewed prior to contracts
- Ensure the relevant site personnel are advised on the requisite PPE and records of PPE issued are maintained.
- Carry out site tool box talks and review and update risk assessments / RAMS when required.
- Issue and communication of safety alerts and safety campaigns to workforce.
- Maintain the contracts HSE folder, both hard copy and soft copies on company server
- Organise training where required and ensure all site personnel and sub-contractors are fully trained in their operations
- Keep full records of accidents /incidents/near misses to include sending the relevant information to appropriate personnel. Responsibility for investigations, close out actions, root cause analysis and retaining statistics for each project
- Carry out site inspections, and audits on behalf of the company and produce reports where required. Manage all external Health and Safety related audits.
- Be a trained first aider and respond to incidents / accidents whilst on site
- Ensure all equipment used on contracts satisfies appropriate health and safety standards
- Ensure COSHH inventory and assessments are updated for each contract and safety information communicated when using chemicals
- Ensure health and safety management and control of sub-contractors employed by MJM and alignment of health and safety practice
- Cooperate with client safety representatives to resolve, action and close out any safety concerns presented by the client in timely manner
- Attendance at daily client safety briefings and cooperation with ship emergency evacuations and permitting procedures
- Work as part of the safety team with MJM SHEQ Manager (NI) and MJM SHEQ Advisor (NI) to resolve health and safety matters
- Ensure all project related environmental issues are satisfactorily addressed
- Ensure Polish branch office and staff is compliance with local health, safety, environmental and fire regulations.
- Attend at the Company’s headquarters in Northern Ireland as required for training and meetings
- Travel to destinations both within and outside the EU to work on sites.
- Assist with SHEQ activities at Company Headquarters and MJM Branch offices (Poland and Southampton) when not working on site
- Make full use of your communication, negotiating, influencing, analysing, problem solving, planning and organising skills
- All other duties as required and directed by management within the reasonable scope of the Consultant’s expertise.
