- Communicate with wide audience in organization to gather necessary information, a lot of talking, mailing and meeting face to face. Work closely with system owners, system administrators, infrastructure engineers, application developers to:
o determine business requirements which needs to be satisfied by IT infrastructure,
o assess the infrastructure incl. storage currently used by systems.
- Analyze the structure of an IT system and identify its current mapping to the infrastructure.
- Understand information, data entities systems deal with, identify data retention requirements data, and develop solutions on moving relevant data sets to a more cost-efficient storage, on archiving and purging historical, obsolete data.
- Collect information on hardware and system performance, match them between, develop required metrics to measure and prove excessive capacity.
- Structure gathered knowledge in a way understandable and valuable for others.
- Develop and provide recommendations to free obviously excessive infrastructure resources.
- Develop and provide recommendations to optimize usage of infrastructure resources in an intelligent way.
- Define plans for implementing the recommendations.
- Work with relevant groups on implementing the recommendations.
- Ability to acquire, consolidate and validate knowledge from various sources.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong understanding of modern IT infrastructure and server-side technologies by industry leading vendors and paradigms (IaaS, application-centric infrastructure).
- Understanding principles of consolidation and optimization of infrastructure requirements.
- Ability to match business requirements to infrastructure requirements to meet SLA’s and peaks.
- Understanding and using methods of measuring infrastructure utilization.
- Understanding data models, their physical implementation, and ability to write complex SQL queries.
- Understanding of data migration, archiving and purging solutions.
- Experience with various database and systems administration.
- Good understanding of common software development practices.
- Understanding of ITSM/ITIL practices in large organization.
- Ability for logical and graphical modelling.
- Capable of working independently and as a team player where needed.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

The project goal is to globally optimize the client’s data warehouse solutions, infrastructure and its utilization so as to minimize the footprint and redundancy and to improve the overall operability. The client’s infrastructure is highly distributed over the globe and there is a strong need to assess and revise the way it is being utilized by the projects across the company.
IT System Analyst/Architect who would optimize IT infrastructure usage by key business systems in an intelligent, systematic way. In the role you should rapidly obtain understanding of various IT systems, their meaning to business people, their internal structure, and their optimal needs of IT infrastructure resources. The goal is to provide recommendations on significant reduction of infrastructure costs by running the systems in a more efficient ways without impacting business requirements. Assisting in implementing the requirements might be a part of the role though it’s not planned to be a primary function.
