Your job will involve:
- Own, manage and improve release process
- Responsibility for planning and controlling the movement of releases to production environment
- Coordinate release content and effort based on the service requests backlog, pending service requests, third party applications, or operating system updates
- Provision of clear, comprehensive deployment plans that enable users, all lines of support groups, application/service owners and application/service providers to align their activities during the transitions
- Ensure that deployment plan has been documented along with a backup plan should anything go wrong during deployment.
- Ensuring (by system and documentation testing wherever possible) that the integrity of the live environment is secured and that the correct components are deployed
- Coordinating release documentation and communications, including service management and technical release notes
- Making sure that knowledge transfer to support groups is part of the release plans and it is effective.
- Regular Release Reporting
- Maintaining Deployment and Run Books
- Working with build/configuration engineers to understand impacts of branches and code merges
- Document and formalize release management processes and procedures to facilitate continuous review and improvement
- Produce release metrics and dashboards that provide a single view of the releases scheduled for a given time frame (day, week, month, year).
- Responsible for overseeing environment management and software configuration activities
- Work with QA and Business Analysts where necessary to support internal and external audit teams and enable regulatory requirements through tracking, history collection, sign-off mechanisms and other controls
- Occasionally support new releases and business activities during weekends
Mandatory:
- BA/BS from college or university in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Sciences or a related field;
- 4+ years of experience with IT projects. 3+ years' experience in the role of Release & Deployment manager
- Strong familiarity with software configuration management systems, source code version control systems, build management and release management tools
- Extensive knowledge of Windows and good knowledge of Linux
- Experience automating release and build processes
- Knowledge of Release Management methodology, strong ITSM processes orientation
- Excellent communication skills in English - listening, verbal and written
- Solid communication skills, both verbal and written
- Good understanding of the software development life cycle
Nice to have:
- ITIL certification
- Experience working as an IT Project Manager
- Experience working within financial sector
- Knowledge of XLDeploy and XLRelease
- Knowledge of messaging systems like IBM WebSphere MQ
- Knowledge of Grid Server, UC4 scheduler
The project team will be closely working with one of the biggest international banks in the investment banking area related to the Fixed Income Trading space (Derivatives and Risk Systems) and be responsible for an in-house developed end-to-end IT solution for deal capture of derivatives and for the entire infrastructure handling external trade feeds, clearing, and downstream feeds for straight through processing in risk, trading general ledger, payment and workflow systems.
The team strives to enable the organization to satisfy business customers by an early and continuous delivery of valuable and high quality software that drives business performance.
The applications currently use the following infrastructure:
- Oracle and MSSQL relational databases
- IBM WebSphere MQ, Grid Server, UC4
- Analytics library, framework for calculations (pricing etc.)
- Quartet ActivePivot in-memory analytics/cube
- FpML data interfaces
- Interfaces to multiple upstream data sources (exchanges and clearing houses)
The majority of the existing codebase is written in C++, with Visual Studio as the main IDE.
