Essential functions
Rockwell Automation’s Industrial Component Business is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to be a significant contributor to an existing product development, responsible for the design, analysis, test and integration of electronic parts and products. The position requires the proven ability to work with system, hardware, and firmware design personnel to create project specifications and execute through the entire development cycle.
You will be evaluating reliability of materials, properties and techniques used in production; plans, designs and develops electronic parts, components, integrated circuitry, mechanical systems, equipment and packaging, and/or optical systems.
You will be working on issues of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
You will be frequently interacting with peers and customers to gain cooperation of others or conduct presentations of technical information/project activities. Networks with senior internal/external personnel in own area of expertise.
Qualifications
- At least 8 years of design experience
- 3 years of experience with microprocessor or microcontroller-based embedded system design, digital circuit design, analog circuit design, Ethernet hardware design, offline switching power supply design and test, and/or electromagnetic compatibility design & test
- Demonstrated skills in the hardware development process, including circuit simulation & design, component de-rating, hardware debug & checkout
- Excellent communication skills, along with the ability to read, write, and speak English fluently and with people at all levels
- Legal authorization to work in the European Union and ability to travel internationally (10%)
Nice to have
- Experience with typical embedded control peripherals (i.e. RAM, Flash, FPGA, SPI, I2C, UART, PWM, A/D, Ethernet/MII, CAN)
- Experience with typical design and test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, digital signal analyzers)
- Mentor Graphics/Expedition schematic entry experience.
- Familiarity with packaging designs for electrical & electronic devices, including design for mechanical robustness, EMC, and thermal considerations.
- Experience with writing system and module requirements specifications.
- Experience with writing and executing hardware and system test specifications.
- Proven ability to analyze and solve complex problems which involve both hardware and firmware
- Familiarity with Rockwell Automation products (including Logix controllers and software tools) and/or other industrial control equipment
