Responsibilities:
- Write code supporting the development of big data oriented solutions solving complete data integration or analytic use cases.
- Interpret customer needs and requirements on a detailed level and matching these back to proposed services or solutions.
- Participate in the analysis and design of a solution, that may include selecting technologies, or estimating level of effort.
- Understand all elements of a client's technical computing environment, and work with vendor IT teams to integrate various solution components as required (e.g. networking, security, compute, storage, etc).
- Support the installation, configuration, and tuning of various technologies comprising a solution including creation of appropriate operational and design documentation.
- Assist clients with trouble-shooting of existing solutions related to performance, scalability, maintenance, or cost of ownership
- Ability to travel to client locations within Europe as necessary
Required Skills and Experience:
¥ Minimum of 3-5 years of experience writing code involving Big Data components such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Pig, Sqoop, Oozie, Ambari, HCatalog, Zookeeper, Flume, Storm, Kafka.
¥ Hands on engineering experience within one or more of the following areas
o Data Ingestion & Processing using scripting tools such as bash, Python, etc
o Data Ingestion & Processing using languages Java, Scala or C#/C++.
o Data Visualization using proprietary tools such as Spotfire, Tableau, Excel/Power BI
¥ Experience with data analysis environments handling volumes at the terabytes or petabyte level.
¥ A proven track record of delivering with quality and attention to detail, while being able to achieve a desired outcome balanced with time and cost.
¥ Experience working as part of a team in a matrixed environment.
¥ Familiarity with commercial software engineering principles and practices.
¥ Familiarity with agile and/or traditional project delivery methods.
¥ Familiarity with one or more code management and delivery tools such as Atlassian, Eclipse, Intellij, Visual Studio etc.
Other desirable skills & experience:
¥ Experience building proof of concepts and/or profiling data.
¥ Experience with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V, Docker etc.
¥ Experience operating in a professional service, or internal consultative role.
¥ Good written and verbal communication skills
¥ Experience with Enterprise Data Warehouse Platforms such as Teradata, Netezza, Exadata, MSSQL, DB2, etc.
¥ An understanding of network configuration, devices, protocols, storage technology, data center processes, Linux, LDAP/Kerberos, etc.
¥ Experience with various cloud big data services such as Azure, AWS, Altiscale, Google Cloud is preferred,
¥ Experience with data science enabling technologies such as R, Mahout.
