Key Accountabilities:
• Develops and maintains a good knowledge of relevant Customs and trade regulations, practices and procedures and their application in the FedEx and Customer business environment. Shares relevant knowledge with peers and approved information with Customers and impacted functions within FedEx.
• Reviews data for each shipment to identify exact Customer and regulatory requirements, together with the accuracy and completeness of documentation supplied. Follows through to obtain clarification when needed (Customer, government agencies, within FedEx etc), seeking guidance for more complex/high impact transactions,.
• Makes the decision regarding the most appropriate type of entry based on interpretation of data and regulatory requirements.
• Escalates potential breach of regulations including all relevant support information.
• Provides advice to the Customer on alternative clearance services.
• Participates in process improvement initiatives.
• Performs physical checks on shipments/paperwork and examinations for Customs.
Requirements:
• Relevant degree (law/transport/logistics desired), or experience as Customs Agent/Customs Specialist
• Fluency in English and French
• Computer Literacy
• Numerical skills
• Willingness to develop within the multinational organization.
