Data Engineer

Responsibilites
- Understand the business of an online travel agency and understand the main performance indicators that can be leveraged to improve the travel agency activity.
- Work closely with customer facing teams and the customers to identify and answer relevant customer questions using appropriate statistical techniques on available data.
- Drive the collection of new data, both internal and external, and ensure its accuracy. Drive the refinement of existing data sources.
- Communicate findings to all relevant internal and external contributors in a way that is accessible to each audience.
Requirements
- University degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent work experience
- Experience using Python or R for scripting
- Experience using Big Data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Impala, Scala, MapReduce, etc
- Experience working in the travel industry is an added value
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good Analytical skills
- Good/Advance level of English:
- Listening: Can understand extended speech and lectures and follow even complex lines of argument provided the topic is reasonably familiar.
- Reading: Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation.
