Purpose of the role:
•Work alongside the Finance Decision Support Business Lead and under the guidance of the Finance Transformation programme manager, to oversee the project management and delivery of key decision support transformation projects
•Provide project management expertise and services to the Decision Support (DS) project, within the Finance Transformation Programme (FTP), to enable delivery of the DS business case
•Manage end to end implementation of transformed Decision Support (DS) processes and capabilities. This includes improvements in Management Reporting, Data & Business Information, Visualisation tools, and related people and process changes
Accountabilities:
•Accountable for successful delivery of one or more business change projects on a day-to-day basis, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, to specification and within budget, working within the agreed governance framework.
•Develops project plans and implementation readiness checklists, ensuring all relevant tasks required to deliver the project are identified with clear owners. Monitors project progress, manages dependencies, risks, issues and initiates corrective action as appropriate with key stakeholders.
•Ensures that the project produces the required outcomes, to the required standard of quality.
•Proven ability to manage projects from start up to implementation, including internal and external project resources. Responsible for the successful co-ordination of various work stream activities and the identification and resolution of any dependencies between work streams.
•Manages project communication, preparing and issuing regular project management reports to appropriate audiences and ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders.
•Owns all project administration and documentation, including plans.
•Ensures change control is managed tightly. Manages and tracks change requests according to agreed processes.
•Co-ordinates, manages and motivates people in the project team; ensuring clear and appropriate delegation of responsibilities and deliverables. Builds strong virtual teams required for each business change project.
•Working alongside the Finance Decision Support Business Lead and under the guidance of the Finance Transformation programme manager, the incumbent will oversee the project management and delivery of the following capabilities for GBS:
•Manage end to end implementation of transformed Decision Support (DS) processes and capabilities. This includes improvements in Management Reporting, Data & Business Information, Visualisation tools, and related people and process changes
•Assist Business Lead with organising and guiding the DS project to achieve its desired outcomes: provide support & constructive challenge to help steer the project team leads, and act as a focal point to ensure integration across the DS project teams and the GBS change teams
•Guide team members on project ways of working (eg planning, governance). Support teams to achieve their goals by sharing expertise on shaping and managing projects
•Support business lead, programme manager and project teams with identifying issues, challenges and dependencies (within the DS project, within the finance programme or externally), and with proactively resolving these
Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
Qualifications:
Degree or equivalent, for example accountancy qualification OR a demonstrable track record of shaping and delivering process, people and technology projects, in the management reporting and decision support field, in a multi-functional and complex stakeholder environment.
Skills:
•Understands the typical reporting, planning and decision support processes in global organisations and how these can be transformed
•Able to manage projects in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and conflicting priorities and to work proactively & flexibly in a start-up environment
•Excellent stakeholder management skills and able to work and communicate effectively across functions, levels & cultures, with the gravitas to influence senior stakeholders
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to provide clarity and direction on what is to be achieved and influence and align views of others
•Exceptional project management skills; able to organise on multiple fronts simultaneously and has experience at a level approaching that of a programme manager
•Strong business and finance acumen
Experience:
•Prior experience of scoping, defining and ensuring delivery of Finance Transformation projects, covering People, Process and Systems change. Ideally 5 years’ experience in Finance change projects
•Preferably some experience of working in, or closely with, a finance or accounting department. Ideally experience in areas related to management information, reporting, analytics, financial data or business intelligence
•Experience working alongside Finance subject matter experts and business leads, and able to lead project teams and collaborate, across functions & cultures
•Some experience of the IT project life cycle and the complexities of implementing technology improvements alongside people and process change. Ideally experience of acting as a ‘bridge’ between finance, HR and IT teams
•Experience of working in pragmatic, “doing-oriented” teams
