Making Waves is a full stack design and technology consultancy that creates digital industry leaders and helps them embrace digital transformation. Best described as a cross between a creative software house and an interactive agency, we design and develop a full range of digital services and solutions. Making Waves is a member of The North Alliance – a family of Scandinavian digital leaders within communication, design and technology (Åkestam Holst, Bold, Hello Great Works, The North Kingdom and others).
We are currently looking for a visionary and business-oriented Design Director to grow design competency in our Krakow office and take Making Waves Polska to the next level as an outstanding design community. The Design Director is a member of the management team, responsible for overseeing all UX and visual design related aspects on a strategic and operational level.
Our designers use a full set of design skills on a daily basis, from research and design to testing and iteration. Acting as consultants, we work in multidisciplinary teams with in-house developers and cooperate directly with clients and end users. As the Design Director, you will have a chance to interact closely with clients, client directors, designers and developers from our Krakow, Oslo and Stockholm offices.

Job description
- Building design competency and capabilities
- Strategic development of our Design & UX related capabilities and offerings (services and how we work)
- Collaborating with Client Directors to support our design offering in the sales process (digital strategy, concepts and proposals, client meetings and workshops)
- Fostering cross-competency collaboration
- Participating in projects as a designer/advisor
- Building design awareness and our reputation through thought leadership, public speaking engagements and networking
- Acting as an ambassador of our human centric approach and design philosophy
Requirements
We'd like you to have:
- Around 10 years' experience of digital products and services
- A minimum of 5 years' experience from digital agency work and selling design services
- Experience of design management
- Experience of digital transformation
- Experience of user-centric development, prototyping and user testing
- Experience of complex solutions for specialized user groups, mapping of user tasks / user requirements and concept development
- Experience of speaking at conferences or similar
