For our international client which provides chemicals for the water- and paper & pulp industry we are looking for:
EH&S Product Safety Assistant
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining health & safety hazard determinations, establishing and maintaining chemical composition, physical/chemical properties, and product regulatory classifications (including Dangerous Goods) in the SAP Substance Management Database.
- Generate output documents such as Safety Data Sheets and Hazard Labels for company's Supply Chain and Commercial Units.
- Set up/maintain new substances through collection/input of data and execution of rules to establish classifications and phrases; manually adjust output data as necessary to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain product safety, dangerous goods and regulatory data in EHS SAP system.
- Process recipe and formula updates and review potential changes to the SDS.
- Review container and plant extensions and route to appropriate EHS groups (Regulated Chemicals, IH, etc). Classification of products for global transport (Dangerous goods classification).
- Author and maintain SDS and labels for complex products for most global regions, including but not limited to US, Canada, EU, China, and Brazil.
- Procure basic knowledge of and be able to apply current regulatory requirements as applicable to hazard classification, intended sales regions, and product end uses.
- Assist the business and supply chain in resolving complex issues related to movement of product through the world (i.e. dangerous goods or hazard classification questions, labeling issues, regulatory blocks).
- Responding to customer questions on regulatory and non-regulatory requirements like food contact and eco labels.
Expectations:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Toxicology, Public Health or other relevant scientific field.
- Fluent in English (speaking and writing), one other additional European language is preferred.
- One year experience in SDS authoring and/or hazard communication.
- PC skills (including Microsoft Office).
- Ability to manage own workload priorities and take initiative.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Two or more years experience in SDS authoring and/or hazard communication
