Johnson Matthey Battery Systems in Gliwice is one of the biggest providers of lithium-ion toolkits in Europe. Processing 80 million battery cells a year, delivering four million batteries to the global market. We sell our products to customers from the power tools, e-bike and lawn & garden sectors. We also specialize in mobile solutions, enabling companies to work outside of the electrical network, without a power cable, for health, sports equipment, products for people with disabilities and sports equipment.
The main purpose of this role is to make sure that the JMBS purchase and deliver components and products are compliant with legal regulations (mainly chemical regulations, but also EHS)
- Ensure the implementation of company standards in line with legal requirements for the chemical compliance of components and products and environmental compliance of the company.
- Development and implementation of a compliance process between the company's internal processes and external regulations.
- Providing an appropriate methodology, ensuring consistency and coordination of the new process.
- Enforcing a declaration of chemical compliance from component suppliers in order to prepare a product compliance declaration.
- Evaluation of the hazards and risk of chemicals, components and our products.
- Communication of the identified hazards and risks to customers, e.g. through correct Classification & Labelling within Safety Data Sheets.
- Assessing the impact of legal changes in the field of chemical and environmental compliance on JMBS through ongoing monitoring.
- Recommending appropriate actions within the company in response to those changes.
- Act as an expert and first point of contact for chemical compliance queries, ensure that the knowledge is captured, up to date, documented and regularly shared within the company
- Represent the company in front of the legal authorities and agencies in EHS area,
- Ensure effective and timely response to all queries from suppliers, contractors and customers in EU legislations matters in EHS area.
- Act as an expert in specific customer requirements for chemical and environmental compliance
- Give advice to other departments in chemical compliance and share knowledge by internal trainings.
- Support cross-functional teams by providing expert advice and guidance on material EU regulations for all projects.
- Bachelor Degree, preferable in chemicals or environmental protection
- Experience in production company
- Strong analytical, planning and problem-solving skills
- Good interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills

- Ability to create procedures and to define process on cross-functional level
- EHS awareness
- Appropriate command of English (B2) and Polish (C1)
- Preferable knowledge of REACH and RoHS directives
