The Engineering Database Support Engineer is responsible for ensuring the successful implementations of Engineering Database.
The system is a configurable system which can be customized per project, per client and which has many interfaces to other applications and engineering systems. These interfaces can also be customized per project, per client. The system has been developed by a small number of people (The Netherlands, India, Canada) and is being used by many Jacobs offices (England, Germany, Italy, France, Belgium, India, US).
- Understanding, documenting and managing the functional requirements (business scope) for an implementation
- Performing first-level Engineering Database support tasks (responding to initial user requests)
- Escalating difficult Engineering Database support tasks
- Performing project implementations including configurations, reports and gateways
- Monitor the implementations to ensure continued system integrity
- Suggesting how to improve Engineering Database or optimize implementations
- Requires 5+ years combined experience working in Information Technology and Engineering
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science
- Great communication skills in English to facilitate working with a team located all over the globe
- Can understand work-processes and data integration issues
- Ability to transition from conceptual to detail
- An ability to understand and manipulate relational models
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent analytical skills combined with strong communication and customer focus skills
