Purpose of the role
•Working alongside the Finance functional leads and under the guidance of the Finance Transformation programme manager, to oversee the project management and delivery of key finance transformation projects
•Provide project management expertise and services within the Finance Transformation Programme (FTP), to enable delivery of the FTP business case
•Manage end to end implementation of finance process, people and system change. This could include changes in Purchase to Pay, Order to Cash, Record to Report, Treasury, Tax and other finance processes, and related people and system changes
Accountabilities:
•Accountable for successful delivery of one or more business change projects on a day-to-day basis, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, to specification and within budget, working within the agreed governance framework.
•Develops project plans and implementation readiness checklists, ensuring all relevant tasks required to deliver the project are identified with clear owners. Monitors project progress, manages dependencies, risks, issues and initiates corrective action as appropriate with key stakeholders.
•Ensures that the project produces the required outcomes, to the required standard of quality.
•Proven ability to manage projects from start up to implementation, including internal and external project resources. Responsible for the successful co-ordination of various work stream activities and the identification and resolution of any dependencies between work streams.
•Manages project communication, preparing and issuing regular project management reports to appropriate audiences and ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders.
•Owns all project administration and documentation, including plans.
•Ensures change control is managed tightly. Manages and tracks change requests according to agreed processes.
•Co-ordinates, manages and motivates people in the project team; ensuring clear and appropriate delegation of responsibilities and deliverables. Builds strong virtual teams required for each business change project.
•Working alongside the Finance functional leads and under the guidance of the Finance Transformation programme manager, the incumbent will oversee the project management and delivery of the following capabilities for GBS:
•Manage end to end implementation of finance process, people and system change. This could include changes in Purchase to Pay, Order to Cash, Record to Report, Treasury, Tax and other finance processes, and related people and system changes
•Assist functional leads with organising and guiding their projects to achieve the desired outcomes: provide support & constructive challenge to assist team leads, and enable integration across finance project teams and GBS change teams
•Guide team members on project ways of working (eg planning, governance). Support teams to achieve their goals by sharing expertise on shaping and managing projects
•Support functional leads, programme manager and project teams with identifying issues, challenges and dependencies (within the finance projects, across the finance programme or externally), and with proactively resolving these
Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
Qualifications:
Degree or equivalent, for example accountancy qualification OR a demonstrable track record of shaping and delivering process, people and technology projects, in the management reporting and decision support field, in a multi-functional and complex stakeholder environment.
Skills:
•Understands the typical finance & commercial processes in global organisations and how these can be transformed
•Able to manage projects in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and conflicting priorities and to work proactively & flexibly in a start-up environment
•Excellent stakeholder management skills and able to work and communicate effectively across functions, levels & cultures, with the gravitas to influence senior stakeholders
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to provide clarity and direction on what is to be achieved and influence and align views of others
•Exceptional project management skills; able to organise on multiple fronts simultaneously and has experience at a level approaching that of a programme manager
•Strong business and finance acumen
Experience:
•Prior experience of ensuring delivery of Finance Transformation projects. Ideally 5 years’ or more experience in lead roles, on diverse Finance change projects, spanning people, process and technology change
•Preferably some experience of working in, or closely with, finance or accounting teams. Experience in transactional processes or specialist accounting functions desirable.
•Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders (within programme teams but also with ‘customer’ finance departments; with project leads & team members but also up to senior stakeholders)
•Experience of the change life cycle and the complexities of implementing people, process and technology change. Ideally several years’ experience of driving successful change in varied environments, as project manager or business lead
•Experience working across a range of projects in parallel, to integrate the major elements of a programme
•Experience of working in pragmatic, “doing-oriented” teams
