Server/DB Specialist
- Re-mapping ESX Hypervisor fleets to segregate into two Windows Server high level clusters. Application and SQL
- Appling the SQL licensing model to the clusters to confirm license compliance
- Reviewing Hypervisor and SQL license capacity and create process for increasing/expanding capacity (for HW and SQ)
- Supporting SQL team with ensuring correct contention ratio on HV fleet
- Responsible for architectural design and capacity planning
- Assist project teams with infrastructure issues and provide Tier III / other support per request from various constituencies
- Contribute to and maintain system standards
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration and support tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
- Perform ongoing performance tuning, upgrades, and resource optimization as required
- Very good knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server operating systems (2008 / 2012 and newer)
- Very good knowledge of administration of VMware ESX
- Wide range troubleshooting skills involving, Active Directory, Storage, Security, DNS / DHCP, Server hardware
- Experience with other remote Protocols (i.e.: RDP, PcoIP, BlastExtrem)
- Six+ years system administration experience in big enterprises
