Our client, Tesco, is one of the world's largest retailers with a strong presence in 14 countries, employing over 500,000 people, serving over 30 million customers a day across a network of over 4,000 stores. Over recent years, the company has undergone dramatic expansion into Central Europe, Turkey, Asia and the USA, and continues to grow. More than two-thirds of Tesco's current profit growth comes from markets outside the UK, even as the company has doubled sales and profits in the UK business over the last decade.
As a result of this constant expansion and growth Tesco is currently looking to hire an experienced and ambitious candidate for the position of Internal Auditor - Poland.
This role reports to the European Internal Audit Manager based in the UK. The role is therefore independent from the reporting structure in Poland.
- Act as the presence of the Group Internal Audit in Poland and manage board-level stakeholders
- Assess the risk environment
- Develop an annual audit plan
- Deliver an audit plan through execution of audits from planning to final report writing
- Assist in successful delivery of audit next steps
- Attend country compliance committee meetings
- Manage store compliance audit function in country including having two direct reports (Compliance Auditors)
- Deal with ad-hoc audit requests and assist in investigation of fraud
- Contribute to the group internal audit vision projects to deliver and sustain change
- Degree in Business Economics/Administration
- Professional qualification required (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
- 3-5 years of experience in progressive audit roles with preference for Big 4 finance consulting firms
- Ability to provide clear leadership and motivate people
- Strong mix of technical financial knowledge along with commercial acumen
- Understands key retail business drivers and proactively seeks out opportunities and recommends solutions that can be effectively supported
- Experience with the use of information technology to effectively satisfy business needs
- Passionately strives to achieve results; energetic and high level of dedication
- Strong knowledge of various cultures and international ways of doing business
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Location will be Krakow with 20 - 40% of the role involving international travel
