Internal Controls Manager

Purpose of the Role

•Ensure IAG can confidently assert it is a well-managed group by implementing and maintaining high-quality internal controls, thus reducing the risk of financial loss or reputational damage.
•Lead a small team of Finance colleagues to implement and maintain a simple, agile and integrated approach to internal control across the IAG group, covering the requirements of Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) and group-wide finance instructions.

Scope of the Role
Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR)

•Monitor the Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) framework across all relevant processes and entities.
•Ensure all ICFR documentation is complete, incorporates appropriate controls and processes and is reviewed and updated as appropriate for any substantial people, process or systems change.
•Team members will actively assist in the documentation process, providing support with writing and amending documentation as required.
•Support process owners in understanding the applicable risk and internal control framework, including training and awareness of process owners’ responsibilities under ICFR.
•Assess the end to end completeness and validity of all ICFR process narratives, risk & control matrices, and tests of design. Initiate the timely implementation of corrective actions as required and ensure they are tracked to completion.
•Facilitate an annual attestation of ICFR sub-process owners and process owners of the adequacy of ICFR.

Governance, Risk management and Compliance (GRC)

•Implement a Governance, Risk management and Compliance (GRC) tool to support the IAG Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team and ICFR.
•Maintain the ERM GRC set up to include updating the system for organisation changes; ensuring risk owners maintain good quality records and update the system on a timely basis.
•Facilitate an annual Risk Owner attestation of the adequacy of ERM.
•Maintain the ICFR GRC set up to include updating the system for organisation changes; ensuring risk owners maintain good quality records and update the system on a timely basis.

Group Finance Instructions

•Lead a group-wide review of Finance Instructions (the group-wide “finance rules” to be followed).
•Propose a new group-view set of Finance Instructions, ensuring consistency and adequacy across all group entities, including IAG GBS and any outsourced providers as appropriate.
•Implement the new Group Finance Instructions, providing support and training to operating company finance colleagues as required.

General

•Provide support and advice to IAG GBS colleagues on internal control
•Recruit, manage and develop the team that will help you achieve all of the above

Key Relationships / Interfaces

•Ground Head of Financial Integration and central IAG colleagues for direction and approvals
•Process owners and sub-process owners, both in IAG GBS and elsewhere in the Group
•Operating company finance colleagues
•Internal audit, specifically in the context of their ICFR audits, and other assurance providers across IAG.

Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience

•Skills Full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).
•Spanish language skills preferred (if non Spanish speaking will need to recruit one Spanish speaker in team)
•Strong analytical and written communication skills.
•Qualifications Educated to degree level or equivalent
•Qualified accountant or Certified Internal Auditor.

Experience

•Relevant experience in external/internal audit or internal control/risk management functions.
•Experience with ICFR or SOX 404 requirements.
•Experience working in multicultural environments.
•Experience with implementation and use of GRC tools (preferred)
•Other Ability and willingness for overseas travel.
