- A technically strong and capable developer able to interact at the lowest level with the development team.

- The role also covers the unit testing and system testing phases of a project. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality of their releases to meet project delivery dates and within the risk and other UBS specified guidelines.
Mandatory
- Ability to demonstrate commercial usage of and practically applied expert knowledge of application OO development
- Ability to demonstrate commercial usage of and practically applied expert knowledge of Core Java development (Java 5 upwards); Web development experience is a plus.
- Ability to demonstrate commercial usage of and experience in an Oracle database development environment
- Experience in a structured development environment
- Experience of UNIX scripting
- Experience of unit testing tools, e.g. JUnit and mocking frameworks
Highly desirable
- Knowledge/experience of financial markets
- Ability to demonstrate a practically applied and experience of service oriented architectures.
- Experience of SQL and Stored Procedure development (Oracle SQL and PL/SQL preferred)
- Knowledge of Subversion source code control
- Technical tools - JUnit, ant, Teamcity.
Java/J2EE/Oracle certification - Desirable
The candidate will be responsible for the design, development and production implementation of the above mentioned applications. The project includes development of the systems, enhancements and ongoing support. The candidate should be able to take requirements, produce high/low level designs, implement and deliver the changes to the business following the development process set out by the project. The role will require close co-operation with many other IT teams including upstream and downstream system owners, QA, Technical Architecture, Business Architecture, Application and Production Support. The roles might include day-to-day production support responsibilities as the team is based on a hybrid development/support model.
