Responsibilities:
- We have an open Java development role in the team, to help improve and maintain the real-time market data system that serves as abstraction layer on top of various Market Data Vendors.
- The system is implemented using core Java along with a high-performance networking and data structures library. As such we look for candidates who have very strong programming and problem-solving skills. We are not so interested in or concerned with familiarity with any particular third-party libraries or frameworks.
- The system is developed globally and we work closely with teams in Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific. The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated and able to communicate and build close working relationships with other development teams, support teams and business users.
- They will have a strong focus on ownership of development tasks and commitment to completing them in a high-quality and timely way.
Successful candidate will be able to contribute to both software development and process improvement. This includes implementation of new features, supporting qa during testing, development of tools for integration testing and performance testing, improvements to environment management process.
Requirements:

Useful skills:
- Experience in implementing real-time distributed messaging systems
- Event-driven programming
- Knowledge of Market Data or Trading Systems
- Some C or C++ knowledge
Development experience on Unix platforms (Linux especially)
The Bank trading systems are developed purely in-house, and support a wide range of products, including traditional Manual trading, Algorithmic trading, Direct Market Access and Proprietary trading. All of these systems have a fundamental dependence on accurate and fast market data from many trading venues. This data needs to be processed, normalised, and distributed to a variety of different apps and users; all of which is the responsibility of the Market Data development team.
