Monitoring Engineer

DUTIES

Provideday to day global operational support, performance tuning, disaster recovery,and patch/release management of the monitoring infrastructure.
Developscripts to interface with various systems monitoring platforms.
Implementand document technical solutions that help ensure the stability and uptime ofthe environment is maintained for maximum service availability to users.
Respondto emergency issues, root cause analysis and implement preventative measures asneeded to ensure the issues do not repeat
Reporton systems and network performance and utilization based on requirementsleveraging existing tools
Providetechnical assistance to Operation, Application Developers/Owners in resolvingproduction incidents
Interfacewith vendors for troubleshooting, upgrading and recommending necessary changesto currently implemented software/hardware tools.
Workclosely with the business and operations IT partner to define requirements andscope
Writedetailed requirements and documentation before products are released toproduction;
Maintainteam knowledge base of known issues, resolution steps, new processes andoverall product documentation, and provide on-going general updates to ensurecontent remains current

REQUIREMENTS

3+years of Systems Administration experience in Windows, Solaris and Linuxenvironments
3+years of Performance analysis/tuning and troubleshooting
3+years of coding / scripting (Perl, PowerShell, Python)
Abilityto manage work efficiently in order to complete multiple assignments in atimely manner
Workingknowledge of Financial Markets, Market Data Networking, Multicast and TCP/IP
Workingknowledge of IT Operations: Metrics, Monitoring, Availability, Reliability,Incident Management and Response, Change Management, ITIL/ITSM practices,
Workingknowledge of monitoring tools (Corvil, BMC Patrol, FireScope, Nimsoft,Observium, WireShark, OpenTSDB, smokeping, etc.)
Strongunderstanding of network protocols and technologies
Strongdocumentation ability and project management experience
Strongwriting and communication skills, adapting to the target and stakeholderaudience
Strongclient skills and experience communicating with client/stakeholders andpartners with varying degree of technical knowledge
Strongsystems analysis and engineering skills (requirement gathering, writing specdocuments, user interactions, etc.)
