Java Developer is required for the Strategy Centre team, which is a real-time trading and monitoring GUI in the Cash Equities space to developer and support number of backend components.
- Development of new server side applications (Java)
- Development of configs for server side applications (Groovy)
- Extending and bug fixing of existing server side applications (Java, Groovy)
- Writing unit tests (Java, Junit)
- Performing code reviews for applications and configs (Java, Groovy)
- Pushing the application and config code to version control system (Git, SVN)
- Performing builds in QA and production environment (Buildweb)
- Controlling code quality via continuous integration server (Teamcity)
- Performing documentation for production releases (knowing ITIL change management procedures)
- Participation in CAB calls
Generic Skills
- Algorithms and Data Structures;
- Logical task (ability to solve algorithmic problems):
- good understanding and knowledge of test methodologies and tools (Jira or similar)
- prior responsibility for Quality Assurance and Quality Control
- good understanding of and experience with Automation and Performance Testing

The platform consists of a .Net front end and a java based backend. The GUI is written in C# by a team based in London,Krakow, Hong Kong and Stamford, and relies on a range of Java server-side components, known as Fish.
We are looking for a strong hands-on candidate to join the European development team. Internal equities trading solution is using high performance middle-tier technology developed in-house. Server side is written in mircoservice manner with Java Core and extensive experience with understanding, clean coding and testing is required.
The team is responsible for the internal equities trading solution which processes high volumes of cash equities trades in real-time, allowing traders to manage and monitor internal orders and from external clients. The development team is an integral part of a high energy front-office environment. As a result, the successful candidate will need to be highly committed, and be able to build very close working relationships with both the business and support teams. They will have a strong focus on ownership and commitment to completing deliverables in a timely way. Experience of agile programming technologies will be an advantage.
The candidate will have a consistent track record of demonstrating initiative, collaboration, and strong teamwork skills. He/she will think out of the box and adds value to discussions during Scrum lifecycle. Furthermore, he/she will take direction and have a strong focus on delivery. Scope of responsibilities will include working in a team taking direction from others for assigned tasks and on some occasions leading individual tasks as part of a larger project.
