Senior Java Developer / Consultant

We are looking for Intermediate and Senior Developers, whom are looking for an opportunity where you will be responsible for state of the art applications in to an enviable client portfolio which includes the majority of the world’s leading banking institutions. You’ll be involved in the breakdown, estimation, development, and delivery of features into the software before deployment and support by application support teams. You’ll also need to bring your experience into the team, promoting high quality code, good engineering practices and clear documentation. You’ll be making recommendations on technologies to deploy, for our products as well as to support the development process itself. 

We will expect you to:

• Design, build and test features on our existing platforms and new services.
• Work in a mixed discipline agile team and engage in all aspects of the software development process
• Translate functional specifications and large work items into logical, component-based technical designs.
• Understand software performance metrics and use them to deliver high performance, scalable software
• Apply best engineering practices to software development, including unit testing, integration testing,
• Review others’ code, encourage good coding standards and raising the quality bar of the team
• Writing documentation to cover code, architecture and any other project artefacts and keeping it up to date
• Provide in depth technical assistance on the software to the application support teams
• Keep abreast of and make recommendations on technologies and techniques to use within the team
• Cordinate all technical effort with other technical team members where appropriate.
• Consult on installation and configuration of J2EE Application Servers
• Balancing multiple high-profile projects simultaneously. Easily switch from one agenda to another.
• Producing technical design specification documents.
• Understanding and communicating both business and technical objectives from multiple perspectives including client view, internal development view, and operational and support view.
• Constantly seeking out and improving product and technical knowledge.
• Constantly seeking out, contributing and implementing ideas for process improvements, more efficient use of resources, product enhancements, improved communications and quicker issue-resolution.
• Be able to remain proactive and focused whilst working independently.
• Demonstrated ability to meet critical time-sensitive objectives with a strong emphasis on planning skills.

What you must have:

• Technically related degree or above or equivalent work experience
• Extensive experience of working in IT on multiple platforms (Unix, Linux or Windows) either supporting or implementing client/server solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Exceptional inter-personal skills.
• Demonstrated exposure to Service-Oriented Architecture.
• Excellent systems administration skills on one of the following platforms: UNIX, LINUX or Windows.
• SQL skills.
• Good understanding of J2EE principals and Java programing.
• An awareness of High Availability configurations
• Good understanding of internet/web technologies such as HTML, SSL, TCP/IP, XML etc.
• (Advantageous) Experience in the Collections and Recoveries sector.
• (Advantageous) Integration with dialler or mobile platform technology.

Salary depends on experience but is always competitive plus an annual bonus tied to your performance and also the company's performance.
