Senior Oracle Developer

Major Responsibilities / Essential Functions

• The Prime Services IT group specializes in supporting and developing the applications that support the Prime Financing business. Prime Financing is a highly successful multi-region business that focuses on Delta One products. The business has significant presence in London, Hong Kong and New York, plus sales and marketing expertise in other regions and is part of the wider Prime Services division within Credit Suisse.
• The role is for an experienced Oracle Developer with excellent technical skills and knowledge of risk/ valuations/ financial products. The successful candidate will have experience of working with databases spread across multiple regions, performance tuning and developing scalable high performance data models.

Responsibilities include:

• Software design and development
• Performance tuning of existing databases and processes
• Mentoring junior developers and improving the database knowledge of experienced application Developers

• Bachelor degree, preferably in Computer science, Mathematics, Finance or Technology.
• Excellent knowledge of Oracle 10g and 11g, ideally experience of migrating between the platforms, with current experience of hands-on development.
• Strong Oracle Object-Relational modelling and development.
• Strong PL/SQL, Packages and Procedures, use of Collections, Nested Tables and Objects.
• Strong understanding of development best practice including knowledge of data modeling, performance tuning and design patterns.
• Experience in owning a project and leading a team of junior developers through the development lifecycle to delivery.
• Ability to work under pressure without compromising quality
• Experience building globally supportable and scalable applications
• Experience of supporting end users
• Effective communication skills including written and oral English language skills
• Independent problem solving and resolution skills
• Strong knowledge of financial products, their use, valuations and how to calculate risk
• Preferred skills and knowledge:
• Knowledge of Prime Finance business
• Knowledge of equities, indices, ETFs, futures etc.

GEARS is a risk management and presentation system. It helps bank traders assess risks of their financial operations/positions. System uses number of external data sources including current market data. Globally team consists of about 80 people (developers, testers, support, managers) in a number of locations: London, New York, Singapore, Wrocław. It uses Oracle as its backbone database and is being developed in .NET C# using Visual Studio 2010 and parts of it in Java. From UI perspective, GEARS is a WinForms application although majority of code is back-end with no UI. It is currently undergoing major architectural changes to incorporate Coherence cache among others. Wrocław team consists of 12 people.
