Responsibilites
This role encompasses the development, rollout and maintenance of the department's IT platform monitoring solution. This is a key role in the development and department wide expansion of the monitoring tool. Responsibilities include:
- Liaise with consumers of the monitoring to determine requirements
- Active involvement in projects to ensure development of additional monitoring needs from application teams
- Determine priority of tasks and work through backlog
- Ensure the health of the monitoring application and it's agents
- Installation of monitoring probes
- Reviewing and amending alerting thresholds
- Capacity management for monitoring system
- Development of dashboards and views for support, management and application teams
- Ensuring the correct metrics are being captured for reporting
Requirements
Must have:
Administrator level experience of operating systems:
- Linux, Windows, Solaris
Scripting
- Excellent scripting ability, especially in the area of system management tools
- UNIX shell scripting
Knowledge of databases
- Connectivity and the creation of SQL
Nice to have:
- First-hand knowledge of systems management tool like: Hawk, Tivoli,
- HP-Openview/ITO, BMC Patrol, Unicenter,
- Scripting: powershell, perl, python, groovy, rake
- Tools: Jira, Team City, Nolio, Subversion
