Job Description
- Works both independently and with senior engineers to understand product requirements, architecture and new feature designs
- Implements automated tests and infrastructure that provide feature coverage
- Develops and maintains automation that is stable and extendable
- Participates actively in code review process; posting scripts, incorporating feedback along with reviewing automation submitted by other team members
- Analyze and evaluate test results, report and assist in resolution of product issues
- Proactively and effectively communicates status, plan-of-action, and resolution of issues
- Works affectively to deliver on planned and committed schedules
- Participates in on-going training with our products and related technologies
- Performs additional projects as required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the common hypervisors (e.g. VMware, KVM) and the Cloud space (e.g. AWS and Azure)
- Test automation experience is required. Familiarity with Python, other scripting languages or C/C++ is required
- Proficient in white box and black box testing methodologies
- Hands on technical experience with and very knowledgeable on Network protocols, UNIX or Linux Operating systems, and/or networking hardware required (e.g. VLAN - setup and implementation, switch configuration)
- Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and the OSI model
- Knowledge of application layer protocols (e.g. HTTP, SSL) preferred
- Able to work with moderate supervision
- Proven track record in a team environment
- Analytical thinker with a strong attention to detail
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently, including technical concepts and terminology
- Must be able to relay technical information to other Product Development team members with varying skill levels
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows environment and Microsoft Office tools
- Experience with Perforce or other configuration management tool preferred
Qualifications
- 5+ years professional experience in the testing and/or development of computer software, preferably in the Linux environment
- Demonstrated experience in testing fundamentals. Writing test cases, creating test plans, owning defects from beginning to end, and test case automation
- Experience working with geographically dispersed teams preferred
- Product Development experience preferred
- BA/ BS degree in computer/engineering related field or equivalent work experience
