Your role

- manage our global, diverse, and overly talented team of web miners.
- innovate by identifying quicker, better, easier ways to vacuum data off the internet
- use experience, intuition and technical know-how to guide project decisions
Your team
We are Evidence Lab and work within the Global Research division of UBS. Our unique data-driven approach to investment research is revolutionizing the industry. Our team is led by visionaries and our culture is like a start-up (without all of the risk).
At the heart of this capability is the ability to systematically collect, cleanse, enrich and analyze unique data about the companies that we do research on. The Web Mining team is responsible for answering the call to find, obtain and collect any dataset necessary to complete our research. Every call is a new challenge and another opportunity to demonstrate excellence.
Your experience and skills
You have:
- 2+ years database experience
- 5+ years combined experience in Python and/ or Java
- detailed knowledge of Browser-Web Server interaction including DNS, HTTP, SSL, GET vs. POST
- experience with ETL processes and applications
- experience in web scraping/SEO/Search/Analytics related projects is preferred
- ability to self-manage and prioritize workload
- agile/Scrum or similar approaches to project management
- project management skills are desirable
