Sybase Database administrator required to work with the business application support teams to provide level 3 database expertise for day to day support of production and development servers within the environment.
- Duties include:
- DBA Support for application development and production support teams
- Overspill from Level 1 Global Sybase Team.
- Out of hours rota and weekend working as required.
- Weekend working will include Sybase replication setup duties within complicated, multiway heterogeneous replication environments, connecting to both Sybase and Oracle.
- Ensure compliance with operational / change management guidelines
- Support for application and infrastructure BCM tests
- The successful candidate must have an excellent track record of performance tuning skills down to a SQL code level. They must be familiar with performance investigations using MDA and sysmon and be able to produce effective results quickly.
Extensive knowledge and experience of Sybase ASE and Replication server administration ideally within the banking/financial industry.
Must have at least 5 years’ experience and knowledge of the following RDBMS technologies:
- Sybase ASE 15
- Sybase Replication Server 15
- Sybase DCO for Oracle
- Sybase CIS connecting to Oracle
Also required:
- A good level of Unix / Perl shell scripting
- A good working knowledge of Solaris and Redhat Linux.
- A good working knowledge of Oracle Systems and DBA tasks
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong troubleshooting skills with an attention to detail and an ability to follow process
- Ability to work and remain calm in a high pressure environment
- Good team working skills but equally has to be capable of working alone
