This position within Windows Enterprise Architecture (WEA) is responsible for providing expert technical consulting in the area of OS operation, server architecture, global directory management, and storage architecture. You will help determine standards for Intel-based servers around the globe; consult with internal customers to determine business needs for server technologies on the IP platform; and provide top-level OS support of Windows 2008/2012 servers throughout IP’s sites worldwide.

Ensure that standards for Intel-based servers are documented and published to customers throughout International Paper, including Regional Server Support

Execute R&D efforts that support WEA’s major customers

Manage server resources efficiently

Coordinate all work activities in support of any projects in progress

Continuously improve the efficiency of the Windows platform by staying abreast of evolving technologies

Develop strategies and direction for Windows Enterprise Architecture using current and applicable emerging technologies

Ensures that improvements in and/or changes to operations are implemented and monitored to increase efficiency

Interacts directly with vendors, internal support teams, application developers/owners, and end users for the purpose of supporting the environment

May instruct and/or act in a team lead role

Plans, conducts and may supervise assignments

Provides consultation to customers requesting information about application and/or data hosting

Provides innovative solutions to challenging technical issues

Provides second and third level support for various operating systems and system software programs

Recommends changes in procedures

Trains junior level personnel in technical complexities of assigned work

Uses available tools to monitor, troubleshoot and repair technical problems

Acts as a source for direction, training, and guidance for less experienced departmental personnel

Acts as a technical consultant on complex projects

Due to the 24/7 support requirements, must be available for on-call duty after hours, on-week-ends, and on holidays.
