Team Lead Java Developer

Responsibilites
- The Java Team Lead works closely with the Product Owner and the team to co-ordinate all aspects of team development at a detailed level, ensuring that the development team functions as a whole and meets its objectives.
- Extend, improve and maintain several software components that cover the security of financial products, while offering a GUI supporting a variety of reports and content management.
- Code with future proofing and re-usability of code in mind and is aware of the effects of certain coding practices
- Take responsibility for the entire task lifecycle from the Open state to Done state, ensuring that all work carried out is tested, documented, signed off by users and accessible to all parties
- Ensure appropriate quality standards are applied to all design and development work
- Perform code reviews and pair-programming when necessary
- Learn emerging practices from outside itself and accommodate these practices into the team members personal objectives
- Ensure technical risks and team issues are raised within the team, and that mitigation options are provided to minimize impact
- Participate in Kick-off meetings for new Epics and work together with the Product Owner on planning the important milestones for technical debts items;
- Take part in the candidate selection process for new colleagues, performance appraisal discussions and probation period evaluations in order to help team members develop competence and commitment;
- Use effective leadership techniques, such as coaching and mentoring to support and motivate the team towards maximum performance;
- Interact with business, customers, potential clients, development and QA colleagues and other teams in order to ensure systems' integration
- Helps removing and escalating blockages and keeping flow, momentum and focus within the team.
Requirements
Technical Skills Required
- More than 6 years of professional experience with Java (including Java 1.8 version)
- At least 2 year experience with Spring, Hibernate/JPA, Struts, JDBC.
- Experience with automated testing(FIT testing) and various testing frameworks(Cucumber); must be willing to write automated tests
- Experience with Git/Ant/Maven and Intellij Idea/Eclipse, Oracle;
- Experience with continuous integration tools (preferably TeamCity) and experience with/knowledge of Agile Software Development practices
- Knowledge of Linux Shell Scripting, minimum understanding of design patterns
- Professional experience with refactoring and test driven development
- Experience with gathering functional specifications, analysis, design, implementation and delivery of multiple large scale Java applications
- Micro-services experience would be considered a plus
Soft skills:
- Minimum 1 year of demonstrated leadership capability
- Ability to analyze data logically and exercise sound judgment in defining, evaluating, and solving difficult technical and operational problems where solutions may be of a precedent-establishing nature
- Must have a passion for working with and developing engineering teams; must be able to work in a very dynamic environment
- Internal client-focused attitude with excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision
