Technical Writer

Responsibilites
- We are seeking a Technical Writer who will write documentation of application design/implementation as well as operational instructions.
- Candidate will gather information from users, power users, technical staff and manufacturers to create manuals that are ideal for technical users.
- Rewrite and edit technical staff documentation in a clear and concise style. Make editorial and aesthetic improvements to documents and recommend new designs, layouts, and procedures.
Proportion of duties:
- approx. 50% - new deliveries
- approx. 50% - existing deliveries
Requirements
As an Technical Writer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
- Min. 1 year of experience within role of technical/business writer working with IT including writing and editing of policies or procedures.
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities; ability to draft and revise documents, including policies, standards, analyses, and reports.
- Flexibility in moving across different technologies (i.e. Oracle, Java, Unix) in order to understand the design and implementation of each component.
- Demonstrated can-do attitude.
- Familiar with Engineering drawings and process flows.
- Ability to work at a fast pace in a team and adapt style to ensure the project is successful.
- A self-starter who can proactively engage with peers and clients to ensure timely completion of deliverables. Interact closely with subject matter experts
- Organize material in accordance with standardized format and style guidelines.
- Ability to design process flows and write functional specifications.
- Experience analyzing and summarizing complex information; experience thinking abstractly and separating complex ideas into simple elements.
- Team player with strong inter-personal and communications skills; strong team building skills & experience.
Desirable:
- Experience reviewing and comparing data/policies/processes to identify inconsistencies.
- Expertise in ETL processes design, data lifecycle management, hands on experience in using Unix/Linux bash/perl scripting is a strong plus.
- Experience with Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products such as Business Process Management (BPM) / Workflow systems.
- Professional background of working on large projects / large and complex systems.
- Understanding of financial markets.
- Know-how of UML methodology. Familiar with engineering drawings and process flows.
