Our client, a multinational real estate development and management firm which is currently operating in Poland, is looking for an experienced and ambitious individual for the position of HSSC Manager. This individual will report directly to the country manager and will be responsible for the Environmental, Health, and Safety function in Poland.
- Serve as a consultative resource to Operations staff (Project Managers) and General Contractors, as needed, to achieve a high level of compliance with company and client codes, rules, KPIs, applicable laws and regulations, and other policies
- Provide weekly and monthly assurance reports
- Manages local HSSE budget and maintains auditable records
- Actively drive and implement European standardization of HSSE within region and share knowledge and best practices with European peers
- Coach and mentor suppliers, general and sub-contractors, site superintendents, and workers to increase awareness and knowledge of Incident and Injury Free work environment
- Manage Award and Recognition programs for employees, contractors, and workers
- Audit project sites to raise awareness and sensitivity among project staff to hazardous conditions and unsafe practices or behaviors
- Manage near-miss reporting program and provide oversight to the Permit to Work process
- Provide training for employees and monitor contractor training for compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assists Project Managers and Site Superintendents in administering the Site Specific HSSE Plan, developing of Site Specific Risk Assessments and proper record keeping on site.
- Develops and maintains emergency plans, contingency plans, and emergency call trees for employees and contractors.
- Accompanies regulatory compliance officers and third party auditors as required and assists in preparation of written appeals for citations
- Performs additional assignments as directed by supervisor
- Higher education degree
- At least 5 years construction and industrial safety experience or equivalent combination of training and related experience
- Occupational safety/health qualification
- Ability to serve as a positive HSSE role model and influence others through coaching, mentoring, and action
- Advanced knowledge of construction methods and practices; state, and local safety and environmental law and regulation
- Ability to recognize unsafe conditions, practices, or behaviors and implement effective corrective measures
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required
- Competence in use of a personal computer and standard office applications such as: e-mail, word processing, or accounting.
- Fluent English and Polish - oral and written
