Linux/Unix Administrator

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions. Applicant will play a core role as part of Cloud and Enterprise Platform Service team and will support both operational elements of EMEA Linux/Unix technologies, and day-to-day administration of platforms built within these environments with special focus on Poland services.

Job location: Warsaw/Home working 

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide solutions and options in terms of systems architecture and configuration
• Manage capacity, develop process, design system architecture, and perform technology refreshes
• Plan, implement, install, build, configure, support system and test server infrastructure
• Lead infrastructure related projects and solve highly complex problems spanning multiple technologies
• Assist with developing strategy that will serve all areas of engineering, taking into account the differing requirements for authentication, security, backup, replication, availability
• Maintain and monitor current servers for efficiency, data recoverability and performance to identify areas of improvement
• Ensure systems operation are maintained, including any necessary patching, restarting, recovery and reconfiguration
• Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, project justification and procurement according to procurement processes and policies
• Pragmatic approach to operational support, recognizing occasional requirements for flexible working hours
• Identify and assess risks, provide/review risk mitigating measures associated with the technical solutions and migration plan
• Implement changes according to Change Release procedures
• Implement security setup and controls on Unix/Linux based mission-critical applications and systems
• Support periodic audit review exercises by providing the required information and to perform the remediation actions to close all audit findings
• Inventory, Assets and License tracking and updates to ensure compliance
• Monitor and troubleshoot backups, schedule jobs, systems setup and processes
• Review and analyze systems logs (events logs, error logs, audit logs, security logs etc.)
• Perform incident logging/update incident, chronology into incident management system
• Perform systems heath checks, maintain and up-keep monitoring systems to proactively identify potential issues
• Detect and eliminate technical issues in complex systems, utilizing monitoring and other analysis tools to ensure optimal system performance
• Drive restoration calls independently
• Promote process improvement
• Maintain technical documentation, reports and records regarding infrastructure solutions
• Involvement in strategic and tactical projects at all levels, technical leadership, complex administrative tasks, resource and capacity planning, product administration, support and root cause analysis
• Mentoring less experienced team members where applicable

Required Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years of working experience in Unix system support, enterprise systems management, maintaining and implementing 24x7 mission-critical applications & systems
• Demonstrated experience with Unix administration
• Hands-on experience on LVM, ZFS, UFS, SVM etc.
• Hands-on experience of Linux patching using Red Hat Satellite / YUM
• Good knowledge experience in Middleware (Oracle Database/BPM/Weblogic) on Red Hat Linux or Unix based systems, Java & Unix shells and scripting
• Good knowledge of Linux/Unix shell scripting
• Experience in managing monitoring and events management systems. E.g. CA UIM, Nagios
• Experience in managing Cloud Ready and Containerized infrastructure (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Terraform)
• Experienced installing and configuring and administering Linux in the Cloud (AWS, Azure preferable)
• Possess project management experience and working knowledge of procurement
• Comfortable and composed working in a high-pressure environment to meet deadlines
• Comfortable working in an international team with colleagues based in different countries
• Fluent English speaking

Preferred Experience:

• Working knowledge of Network/Storage/Backup technologies, Apache / Internet Information Server (IIS) Web server, Firewalls, SAN
• Working knowledge of DRP (disaster recovery plan) and BCP (business continuity plan)
• Familiar with TCP/IP networking, load balancing, firewalls, etc. and proficient with network tools such as iptables, Linux IPVS, HAProxy, etc.
• Working knowledge of VMware infrastructure
