Yearly internship program from February 2025 till January 2026
The Global Research and Development Department is a core team inside Cemex Innovation Holding AG based in Switzerland. The aim of the team is to create new products and solutions for the different challenges Cemex customers have in their construction projects. The position is intended to support the goal set by Cemex at the global level of reducing 41% CO2 emission by 2030 and Zero-emission concrete by 2050 by supporting the digital development of open BIM platform intended to facilitate promotion and sales of Sustainable Products and Solutions.
- Support Development and Deployment of open BIM Cemex Platform for Sustainable Construction Design;
- Resolving main interoperability workflows issues within Cemex open BIM Platform;
- Contribute to the development of LCA for new construction materials (aggregates, cement, concrete) and new construction systems into BIM Environment;
- Interaction with different stakeholders of the BIM Ecosystem;
- Support on the development of structural design and building thermal design calculators by interacting via API with specialized software;
- The student will contribute to the programming and coding of new software tools;
- Contribute to train users of new tools in different events (present and virtual) in Germany.
- Knowledge of spoken and written English at least B2 level;
- Student status/ PhD student status in field of Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Construction Engineering;
- Preferably previous knowledge in the field of BIM software (Revit, BIM Autodesk Suite or similar, or experience with open formats like IFC);
- Familiarized with Construction Materials Sustainable Attributes (e.g. GWP,EPDs);
- Medium to Advanced knowledge of Visual Basic, C or C# or Java or Javascript;
- Candidate should have previous knowledge of applied AI/ML on Phyton (e.g. Pandas);
- Documents required for application: Personal CV, personal letter of motivation;
- Documents nice to have: professor’s letter of recommendation, validation of English fluency.
- Monthly salary;

- 2 weeks vacations per every six months;
- The student can use the topic of his research internship experience to write his thesis after the conclusion of his internship and together with his thesis advisors, can also publish an article on a refereed journal;
